RIDGE MOUNTAIN GEARについてハイキングの時間も、家や街で過ごす時間も、僕にとってはひと続きの毎日の一部です。その連続した時間のなかで、無理なく、気持ちよく動けるように。RIDGE MOUNTAIN GEARは、そんな感覚にそっと沿う道具と服をつくっています。機能には理由を持たせ、余計なものは足さないこと。壊れたら直してまた使えるように構造を考え、自分のハイキングで得た気づきを、小さな改良として積み重ねていきます。僕がつくりたいのは、特別な日だけに出番があるものではなく、気づけばいつも手に取っている道具です。そうやって日々の中に居場所ができたものを、僕は「定番」と呼びたいと思っています。定番とは、まったく変えないことではなく、変えすぎないこと。使い手の声を聞きながら、本当に必要な部分だけを更新し、時間とともに信頼が増していく形を目指しています。品質は、作り手どうしの関係性から生まれます。日本各地の工場さんや仕入れ先さんと顔の見えるやりとりを続け、それぞれの強みがいちばん活きる型だけを選ぶ。大げさな言葉で飾るのではなく、なぜこの形なのか、どのような背景で作られているのかを、できるだけ正直に届けたいと思っています。RIDGE MOUNTAIN GEARは、これからも「本当に要る」と思えるものだけを、少しずつ増やしていきます。About RIDGE MOUNTAIN GEARTime spent hiking and time spent at home or in the city are, for me, all part of one continuous day.Within that flow of time, I want to be able to move naturally and comfortably.RIDGE MOUNTAIN GEAR makes tools and clothing that quietly follow that feeling.Every function has a reason; nothing unnecessary is added.I think about structure so that, when something breaks, it can be repaired and used again.The small insights I gain from my own hikes are built up as steady, incremental improvements.What I want to create is not something that only comes out on special occasions,but tools you find yourself reaching for almost without thinking.When an item finds a natural place in someone’s daily life like that, I like to call it a “staple.”A staple, to me, doesn’t mean never changing it-it means not changing it too much.Listening to the voices of the people who use these products,I update only what truly needs to be updated, aiming for forms that grow more trustworthy over time.Quality is born from the relationships between the people who make things.I keep up direct, person-to-person communication with factories and suppliers across Japan,and choose only the patterns that allow each partner’s strengths to come through most clearly.Rather than dressing the products up with grand words,I want to share as honestly as possible why each piece takes its shapeand what kind of background it comes from.RIDGE MOUNTAIN GEAR will continue to add only what feels truly necessary, little by little.
